Are Ionizing Filters [Mineral-Based] Better than Electric Water Ionizer Systems?

There are two types of systems which will ionize water. One is electric, a water ionizer machine, which involves electrolysis of water. The other is an ionizing filter or filters and ionizes the water using minerals [mainly magnesium, tourmaline, zeolite, etc.] and usually some sort of magnets [usually magnetized ceramics] to lightly ionize.

The sellers of both these types of water ionization systems often claim their system is better, more healthy, more natural, etc. than the other type of system. In this post I will give you the data [without the hype] so you can know what the similarities and differences between these systems and choose the right one for you. I actually recommend you get both kinds of systems and will explain why, below. The first true piece of information is that both types of water ionization systems that I sell are good!

Continuous-Flow Water Ionizers

Electric water ionizers are otherwise known as continuous-flow water ionizers. They can give you quart after quart of ionized water all day long, without the need to re-charge or take a break. They aren't meant to deliver hundreds of gallons of ionized water a day, as commercial water ionizers do, but they are meant to supply all of the ionized water your family would ever need in a day instantly and on demand.

This is different than what a water ionizer filter, pitcher or any non-electric ionizing device can do. Non-electric devices come in many different forms: alkaline pH pitcher, Alkaline Ionizer Purifier Energizer. 

A Note on Quality: Electric water ionizers and alkaline pH filter systems are wide and varied. Their quality depends on the manufacturer, design, materials and workmanship that are used to make the particular water ionizer. This is why I test and thoroughly study them all. Benefits of Electrolyzed Ionized Water Using a Water Ionizer

An electric water ionizer uses electricity to split the water clusters and produce a variety of strengths of ionized water. The result is that in the alkaline water stream you have a greater concentration of the healthy, alkaline minerals [such as calcium, magnesium, potassium] that your body needs and in the acid-water stream you will have a greater concentration of the minerals that are generally toxic to our bodies [such as chloride, fluoride]. Benefits of Alkaline PH Ionizing Filters

The alkaline pH ionizing filter systems are typically less expensive, because they don't require platinum-coated plates or advanced electronics. They are quite varied in quality, but in all cases can only produce a limited amount of ionized water before they need a break to re-charge. The reason for this is that Alkaline pH ionizing filter systems use the principles of spontaneous ionization discovered by Dr. Hayashi [using magnesium in the presence of magnetized ceramics to promote ionization]. For this purpose time-release magnesium balls are in the ionizing filter. The outer layer of magnesium can be used to ionize a certain amount of water, but when that layer is used up the filter needs a period of rest to re-charge the balls once more. I have found that about 30-60 minutes of rest-period is the right amount for getting the best results. The best devices I've found for ionizing water using this method are:

Which Water Ionizer Device do I Prefer:

For daily use I prefer, and suggest, an electric water ionizer over a portable or mineral-based water ionizer system. With an electric ionizer it puts a negative charge on all of the healthy minerals which are naturally in the water [such as calcium, potassium and sodium as well as magnesium]. The fact of a negative charge makes these healthy minerals more bio-available, which is good, because your body’s biggest need is calcium [far more than the other minerals] and calcium is usually dissolved in abundance in water. The alkaline pH ionizing filters will only add a negative charge to the magnesium in the water. 

An electric water ionizer is capable of not only stronger ionization than an ionizing filter, but more complete ionization and micro-clustering. Electric water ionizers are able to give you as much ionized water as you want, at whatever level you want and whenever you want vs. the limitations of only so much ionized water at a time.

With all that having been said, I like having my Alkaline Plus PH Pitcher for traveling. It comes in very handy at airports, sight-seeing and on the road.

What About Other Websites Which Claim Their System is Better?

A few words of warning is that there are many gimmicks used on the internet to lure your business. I cover many of these on my water ionizer reviews page. My reviews and my water ionizer comparisons are the real deal. They are coming from years of testing and research, and from maintaining a non-biased approach to my comparisons.

Ionizing Filters: Mineral-Based or Portable-Water-Ionizer-Filter Systems

Out of all of the ionizing filters I’ve tested [portable-water-filter-purifiers, such as mineral-based water ionizer pitchers or other filter systems], I have only found a few that work well. Theoretically these should all work fairly the same, because they often say the same things about themselves, but I have not found this to be the case. 

Some of the hype I’ve seen about mineral-based water ionizer filter systems is the claim that they are more “natural”. This is just an advertising trick to entice you away from an electric water ionizer and into buying their “more natural” system. An example of this is the importer of the alkastream-water-ionizer, which is basically the same as the Alkaline Ionizer Purifier Energizer. I'm interested in factual marketing and do not get into hype. The facts are that non-electric-water-ionizers, i.e., water-ionizer-filters, are not particularly more or less “natural” …it’s just a different system.
