What are Alkaline Foods and Why Should We Eat Them?

An Acidic Body Creates Illness!
Acidic foods, such as fast-food, meats, refined flours, sugars, agricultural chemicals [such as pesticides], and soft drinks are dominating our culture and diets. Because of this we over-produce acid wastes within our bodies [tissues, cells, joints, and organs], and they get trapped there.
An overly acidic body is known to produce a long list of diseases, therefore it is crucial for us to find ways to alkalize your body. We must stay balanced with alkaline pH buffers and antioxidants if we are to eliminate wastes, fight free-radicals and remain healthy. Alkaline foods are a great way to help us do that. But, in addition to the food we eat, we need to control what we drink in order to effectively balance our body pH
Alkaline Ionized Water
The best way I have found to stay healthyand pH-balanced for the past 20 years is to drink lots of alkaline ionized water. Because a healthy body is 70% water or higher, water should be the single-most abundant ingredient in everyone’s diet [second only to air]. Therefore ionized water deserves special attention. I highly suggest you read more about the Benefits of Alkaline Ionized Water.
Alkaline Foods
It can mean the world of difference to your overall health and longevity to also start shifting over to a well-balanced alkaline diet. A balanced pH alkaline/acid diet would consist of about 2/3 alkaline-forming foods and 1/3 acid-forming foods.
Obviously it’s hard to measure the percentage of this and that on your plate, but if you just visually inspect your plate and mentally divide up the acid/alkaline forming foods into acid forming on one side and alkaline forming on the other, you should have twice the amount of alkaline forming foods as you do acid forming foods on the plate [include the beverage in there too]. For a full alkaline food chart and report see our special Alkaline-Acid Special Report.
Actually shifting over to a more alkaline diet can be a pleasure! Obviously feeling younger, brighter, more energetic and healthier is a pleasure, but also the foods themselves can really taste great! For instance, below you can find a fantastic, alkaline/antioxidant dressing that you can put on your salads or fresh, raw, organic vegetables to make you feel like you are eating like a king or queen!
Alkaline, Antioxidant Oils
Did you know that the kind of oil you consume can either help to alkalize your body or acidify it? It can also help to fight free radicals or create them, depending on the nature and origin of the oil…very similar to water. The topic of OIL belongs in any discussion of how to alkalize your body and stay HEALTHY. You need good oil. For more information about the role of oil in a healthy body, I encourage you to read one of Dr. Robert Young’s pH Miracle Books.
Here is a way to add just the right amount and quality of oil to your diet. Use good, cold-pressed, organic oil and eliminate bad, cheap oils [such as corn oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, animal fats, and the dozens of poor quality salad dressings that are readily available on the store shelves]. Second to water, changing your oil can make the world of difference to your health. Another great thing about healthy oils is that they actually contribute to weight-loss, contrary to the idea of fat-free [which is a very bad idea].
Follow these easy recipes or alter them as you like. The only way to get healthy, alkaline dressing is to control the purity of of the oil, so I highly suggest making all of your salad dressings yourself. This easy, alkaline diet recipe will help to alkalize the body, by providing your body with healthy essential oils:
