The H2 Series water ionizers have continuous-cleaning inside the water cell, but if your water flow-rate slows it may mean it's time to do a citric acid wash. People with hard water may need to do some kind of citric acid cleaning every year or so.
Using the Citric Acid Cleaning Cartridge makes it easier to clean the internal lines of the water ionizer than ever. All you need to do is install the special Citric Acid filter in the #2 spot of the ionizer and follow the directions, below.
Citric Acid Cleaning Cartridge Directions:
- Gently tilt the Top Spout up above the height of the ionizer & clip the acidic hose at an equal height. [Both hoses are up higher than the machine, because you don't want the citric acid water to drain until this process is done.]
- Remove the second filter and insert the correct Citric Acid Cleaning Cartridge for your machine.
- Run the water ionizer on Level 1 or 2 Alkaline mode for a few seconds, until it starts to come out of the tip of the spout.
- Let it sit for a few hours, or overnight.
- When the time is up, set the machine hoses back down in their normal spots. The under-sink ionizer hoses should have already stayed in the normal positions.
- Remove the empty Cartridge and return the regular filter #2, or replace filters if it's time for a filter change.
- Rinse the machine for about a minute once you have the normal filter inserted properly. Use the neutral (filtered water) mode for this step.
